Shen Wei and his Kunlun cosplay

So it's been discussed (somewhere, sometime, probably more than once) that Professor Shen wears blue in very similar shades to Zhao Yunlan's Kunlun outfit. There's also a lot of grey in Kunlun's clothes, which is Shen Wei's other favorite color to wear. I haven't heard anyone mention the yellow jade amulet Kunlun wears on his clothes (attached to his belt, maybe) but it only bears a slight resemblance to Shen Wei's necklace, really.

But I just noticed something else that had never been called to my attention:

Those stripes around Kunlun's upper arms. I think they're seams in the blue overlayer, maybe? Those really do mimic sleeve garters, don't they? Or more accurately, sleeve garters and certain striped sweaters mimic them.

Shen Wei and his entire wardrobe of pining, everybody.

(I assume I will never stop noticing new things about Guardian that will directly attack my emotions like this.)

ETA: cyberbrain pointed out that the yellow jade piece is on Kunlun's fur stole, not his belt...just putting that here in case someone needs accurate details for their fic/art.

I was reading something about hanfu construction the other day -- and they don't have shoulder seams. Here I found it

Oh, interesting! So it makes sense for it to be a seam, I guess. (Though with Kunlun's tight sleeves I have no idea how that works, lol. I guess there must be a seam along the underside of his arm as well?)

Yeah this kind of garment construction seems like it would work better for loose sleeves as opposed to tight ones.

Oh Shen Wei. I mean, I could say more, but I think that sums up both all my feelings and also his, uh, everything. He just wants to show Kunlun-sempai he's grown up nicely! This necessitates copying Kunlun's color palette and wearing pants that have been painted on.

He was just trying to make himself into Kunlun's perfect man, and accidentally became DCU's resident eye candy! Poor thing. (I was saying to sylleblahsome that he must have been disappointed when he met Zhao Yunlan and found they weren't wearing anything close to matching outfits.)

I remember reading that they had to pad Bai Yu's sleeves/arms so he would look more muscular in the Kunlun costume, but don't quote me on that lol

I would not be surprised, lol! There's fairly obvious bicep padding on him in the scene where Zhao Yunlan saves ("saves") Shen Wei from being mugged, IIRC. (Poor guy. I think his skinny arms are adorable.)
