TBH I never got it when people said their favorite season was spring – did they mean slush season, mud season, dust-and-grit-everywhere season (from the winter's anti-slipping measures that had yet to be cleaned up), or the 1-2 weeks of something spring-y when stuff started to grow and it wasn't summer yet?
(The time in March when there's snow on the ground but the Sun is high enough that it's t-shirt weather when it's sunny is pretty nice, though.)
And I've still never seen aurorae? That is a terrible state to be in! I checked and Pennsylvania is just outside of Kp=7, so you're equivalent to, like, Ireland and Northern Germany and Belarus. (NA, E&A) I suggest blaming clouds. Though the Sun's also been slacking off recently.
