I've been to Finland in July and it was beautiful, so I'm not convinced you know the true horrors of gross summer weather (we do have longer nights though, which might be worth it.) The true grossness only started recently (like, past 5 years?) with the 30°C summer temperatures. (The Finnish summer is meant to be ~18°C and full of drizzle.) The long days suck, but OTOH the long nights of winter are wonderful. Now, if only it were less cloudy here with a chance of aurorae...
